My Platinum Blonde experience

For school on worksheet 13 (the last worksheet) you have to do a platinum card. Which basically means lifting someone at least three levels to achieve the white blonde look. A friend of mine is graduating this coming week and she still needed her platinum card! So what did I do? I volunteered! I was getting tired of the red anyway! So for the week before this happened, I shampooed the crap out of my hair and tried to get all the color out. To be honest, this isn't as bad as it could have looked
Then the day came to bleach out my hair, and of course it was just oh so glamorous!
Foils are totally in by the way. And then the big reveal. So from the first picture, you see that some of my hair was previously bleached. Because of that, we didn't put bleach on those pieces until the last ten minutes or so because we thought they would lift really fast. Well, somehow those pieces turned kind of a greenish pee yellow and it was quite interesting. We decided we would bleach them again the next day and put toning off until then. Thus the yellow hair I was sporting for a day :)
Then the next day we bleached and toned and I am altogether happy with the outcome. I think it was good for a change (especially since I've been almost every color since I started school! Might as well try my hardest to complete it!) and I'm excited for my regrowth! NOT.

Bracken Mark Bennett

My sister had her baby! I now have a nephew! He was born at 4:56 on May 7th, weighing 9 pounds, 11 ounces and 21 inches long. What a big baby! I'm so happy for my sister and brother-in-law! Congrats to them and their cute little (but growing) family!

My hair journey!

When I first started hair school I knew I would be one of those girls that colored their hair all the time. I've only been in school for seven months and looking back I am actually amazed by how much my hair has gone through! It really is a journey! I started school out with about a level 3 red/brown and straight across bangs. My hair was about shoulder length and grew about four more inches before I cut it.

Then I decided I wanted to go back to my natural blonde which is about a 7G. Of course bleaching (especially bleaching color) doesn't always give you the best outcome... and I ended up with strawberry blonde/peachy orange hair with major hot roots. Not the prettiest.

The very next day I colored my hair to make it more blonde and it looked tons better. Soon after it started fading into an greenish gold and wasn't complimenting my pale skin at all. While I had blonde I had pink block colors and red (which is pictured now).
One night I was looking online and I found a gorgeous picture of an amazing hair color. It was a red/orange (emphasis on the orange) with purple in it and it was gorgeous. The very next day I decided that I needed it in my hair so that day I colored my hair as close as we could get it to the picture. The purple didn't show up very well unfortunately, but the new cut and amazing red/orange made me a happy camper :)About six weeks later I cut and colored my hair again. This time around the purple definitely turned out and so did the orange block colors we decided to do this time. My friend accidentally cut off the disconnect in the front that I was trying to grow out, but the cut was even more textured than the one before and really showed off the new colors. Don't mind the toothbrush in my mouth :)

And now here I am. I have a fantastic cut done by the amazing and oh so incredible Dave Holland and I have the color to match it (although don't judge too harshly, I need to refresh my color). I think I might stick with this color scheme for quite a while but let's see where these next few months in hair school take me!

Work and Play have almost become synonymous

Meet Tylor. He is kind of crazy, kind of witty, and kind of my favorite person to work with. This is what we do on Saturday nights when work is slow....
We are very productive, I know. But this is actually something to show off. We have little marker pens next to the food area that are meant to write on wrappers if something is special and needs to be written down (aka if an order has a potato soft taco and a soft taco we write "pota" on one and leave the other blank). Well I was taking an order and sometimes I feel like I actively need to be doing something instead of just listening to the order. Generally I try to be helpful, but I was lazy and didn't feel like moving. So I started to draw a picture :)
This is my fancy little unicorn and the backside of my cow... then things got a little crazy and me and Tylor drew a whole picture together which is how this came about!
Basically the giraffe is fenced in and a poacher tried to shoot it but it ricocheted off the giraffe's invisible shield and made an impact crater... and I have no idea were the camel came from, I just felt like drawing a camel. This is about as close as we get to doing something beneficial at work!

A fractured wrist and broken pride

This is what my wrist looked like half an hour after I fell on it...

And then this is three weeks after...

(The blue arrow indicates where it's still bruised and the red arrow indicates where it's still slightly swollen and where it hurts)
Basically I fell while ice skating. Shocker. I'm pretty sure I posted about the last time I fell while ice skating and that wasn't terribly pretty either. And believe it or not, neither of them were my fault! Anyway, I fractured my right wrist and now it's difficult to do anything with it (especially hair. Which sucks, by the way). So here's to healing fast and hopefully being halfway through the healing process!

God Bless.... Mexico?

My roommates are dyed in the wool caucasian Mexicans. Not that my feelings for them have anything to do with their race, not at all. I just thought I should give a little background in the very beginning.
Lately my roommates have been trying to decorate the apartment with what little things they have. So on our walls we have a collection of pretty neat things. I think my favorite is the strip of gift wrap taped to the wall, it just adds so much color and personality to our little home (oh yeah, don't forget the paper chain that extends across the entire apartment and showcases just how poor we really are). Across from this beautiful piece of gift wrap is a humongous Mexican flag. I understand the whole show your colors thing, but please do it in your own room. It's actually almost embarrassing to invite people over (it's always the first thing they notice!).
So even though I'm not Mexican, apparently my whole apartment has become sympathetic to everything Mexican whether I like it or not. We apparently live in Mexico, people! We don't have choices!

...Who decided to post on her blog

I'm not sure why, but I suddenly decided I wanted to blog again. Not necessarily to be heard, but to be recorded. So be prepared to hear about my adventures in school, with my roommates, at work, and with my besties. Let the blogging begin!
